Betulin is the protective white colour of birch tree. It is a naturally occurring compound found in birch bark and has been studied extensively for its functional properties.
Betulin (C₃₀H₅₀O₂) is a lipophilic compound known for its crystalline structure, making it highly versatile across various applications. As a Strong bio-based polyol, Betulin is suitable for the formulation of high-performance coatings, adhesives, and advanced cosmetic and personal care applications.

Betuinno.™ Betulin offers a unique blend of functionalities:
- Hydrobarrier/thickener – improves technical properties like water resistance, strength, flexibility and texture in formulations. Betulin is highly water-repellent, which makes it useful for creating moisture-resistant barriers and improves durability.
- Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory: Betulin protects the skin against free radicals and carcinogens which accelerate skin aging. By boosting collagen production and improving skin elasticity. Betulin also helps to maintain skin moisture and has properties that can soothe irritated or inflamed skin.
- Thermal resistance: The high rigidity of betulin, with a melting point of 252-256 °C, can enhance the heat resistance of adhesives.
- Durability: Incorporating Betulin into PU systems can increase cross-link density, aided by its rigid structure and multifunctional hydroxyls. This enhances cohesion and mechanical robustness.
- Adhesion: Betulin-based coatings show excellent adhesion to various substrates, enhancing performance in bonding applications.
