We’re honoured and excited to announce that Innomost has been selected as one of the finalists in the Green Transition Business Competition 2025. This recognition, awarded by Biocluster Finland, celebrates companies whose work actively supports the shift toward a low-carbon, resource-wise economy.
For us at Innomost, this nomination is more than a moment of celebration — it’s a reflection of our values, our vision, and the meaningful work our team has been doing to turn nature’s side streams into future-proof solutions.
From birch bark to breakthroughs – Driving the green transition
Our journey begins in Finland’s forests, where birch trees grow in abundance. In the forest industry, birch bark is typically a by-product, often overlooked, though rich in potential. This is exactly the kind of challenge Innomost was created to solve. We’ve found a way to upcycle this underused material into high-value, functional ingredients that replace fossil-based components in applications from cosmetics to industrial coatings and adhesives. This approach represents circular innovation: reimagining low-value side streams as key ingredients in high-impact, future-proof applications.
Betulinno™ and Suberinno™– Bio-based performance across applications
At the core of our innovation are two ingredients: Betulinno™ Betulin and Suberinno™ Suberin — both derived from birch bark and developed with scientific knowledge, thorough reseach, and a strong commitment to sustainability. 100% biobased and biodegradable, Betulinno™ Betulin and Suberinno™ Suberin offer multifunctional benefits in different applications across industries, such as coatings, adhesives, and cosmetics.
Betulinno™ Betulin offers a wide range of functionalities. It improves water resistance, enhances surface texture, and offers excellent thermal stability, making it an ideal natural and effective ingredient for coatings and industrial formulations. As a 100% bio-based binder, it supports the growing demand for more eco-conscious alternatives across industries. In cosmetics, Betulin is already recognized for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which make it valuable in formulations designed to promote skin healing, protection, and elasticity.
Suberinno™ Suberin, on the other hand, is nature’s own barrier — the waxy, protective layer of the birch. Suberin helps improve grease and moisture resistance, strengthens adhesion, and boosts impact resistance in coatings. It’s also being explored as a bio-based polyol in polyurethane and polyester production — another promising step toward reducing dependence on fossil-based materials. In skincare, it offers protection, nourishment, and anti-aging benefits, giving formulators a naturally derived ingredient that’s gentle yet effective.
Partnering for a regenerative future
We don’t just develop materials — we develop solutions with intention. Every innovation at Innomost is guided by our belief that the green transition must be both practical and impactful. Our ingredients help our customers to create high-performing products that are safer, cleaner, and better for the planet while reducing their environmental footprint. By offering ingredients that serve both high-performance needs and sustainability goals, we give our partners the tools they need to be part of the solution.
Biocluster Finland: Collaboration that drives change
Biocluster Finland plays a great role in advancing the green transition. As a national network, Biocluster brings together Finnish bioeconomy and circular economy actors to promote sustainable growth, support low-carbon innovation, and strengthen the international competitiveness of Finnish companies. By encouraging collaboration across industries, regions, and research organisations, they help accelerate the development of new, resource-wise solutions.
The Green Transition Business Competition brings these efforts into the spotlight. It shows that sustainability is not just a responsibility — it’s also an opportunity for innovation, job creation, and long-term value.
Driving change with innovation
Being recognised as a finalist is not the end goal — it’s a reminder that we’re on the right path. There’s still a lot of work ahead, and at Innomost, we’re motivated by the knowledge that what we do has real impact. We’ll continue refining our products, deepening our partnerships, and exploring new ways to bring sustainable materials to more applications and industries.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey — from our dedicated team to the collaborators and customers who believe in what we do. And thank you to Biocluster Finland for recognising the role companies like ours can play in building a more circular, regenerative future.
Let’s keep moving forward a greener future, together.
